Technical Committee Notices
Withdrawals
Any horse that is removed from the course during a loop must be presented for vetting as soon as it
is returned to the ride base. Failure to do so will result in a suspension level “Vet out”. These horses
shall be classified as “Eliminated” if they have not correctly completed the loop or as a “Vet out” if
they do not pass the vet inspection.
This means that if you start a loop and then decide to return to base for any reason, your horse must be
vetted as soon as you get back. This is regardless of whether you ride or lead your horse back to base

Day Membership

Riders

At all Points Rides every rider is required to either be a current financial member of ESNZ or to purchase a Day Membership.

Unregistered riders must enter in the Novice class up to 50km and must purchase a Non-Graded Day Membership. For all other classes at a Points ride the rider must have a current ESNZ membership card with their Endurance NZ rider grade printed on the membership card. However, if a registered rider does not have their membership card or membership card number with them at the ride they must purchase a Day Membership.

Membership card number must be confirmed to the ride secretary within three (3) days of the completion of the ride otherwise no kilometres will be awarded.

Riders cannot compete in any Championship class on a Day

Membership.

A Day Membership fee is paid per day of competition.

Foreign riders –

At all Points rides a foreign rider is required to be a current financial member of ESNZ or to purchase a Day

Membership (Graded or Non-Graded). They are also required to have proof they are qualified to ride at the level of event they are entering as per the Endurance NZ rider qualification rules, and a

rider licence or letter of no objection from their National Federation. Foreign riders can compete on a Day Membership at an Island or National Championship.

Horses

Horses in the Novice class up to 50km do not have to be registered with ESNZ.

For all other classes horses must have a current ESNZ registration and have their logbook at the ride. If a horse does not have it’s logbook at the ride then it must be entered in the Novice class up to

50km. The horse will not be credited with the kilometres but may claim for them under the Three Ride Rule.

Junior riders that wish to ride in Open competition this season (if eligible) only have to register with ESNZ, as a junior rider ($47), not as a senior competitor.

CLARIFICATION OF 15 MINUTE RULE

The following is what applies: All riders must start all rides within 15 minutes of the official start time.

This applies to the start of the first loop only. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

Only those in the Novice classes must commence the 2nd and subsequent loops within 15 minutes of their official “Depart Time.” Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

Those in the Open and Junior Open classes may commence their 2nd and subsequent loops as late as they wish without penalty. However, they must still complete the ride within the maximum ride time allowed. The

time for the loop will still commence at the official “Depart Time” as recorded in the logbook regardless of how late the rider departs on the loop.

Please be aware that you only need to have your horse Identification Papers completed (back of log book) if you are going to compete in FEI Endurance Rides. If you are only riding in Open, CTR and Novice Endurance rides then you do not have to have your horse Identification Papers completed.
