Stop Press from the National 2008 AGM
The result of the voting for council was:  Greg Bickerton and Gabrielle Deuss were voted on as the new members of the council

Chairman Paul Jefferies having been defeated, is now replaced by Ken McGrath as new chairman of council.

EnNZ has 3 primary revenue sources.
Club Affiliation Fees ‐ currently $350 per year plus gst
Discipline Start Fees ‐ currently $15 per year for all horses
Ride Levies ‐ currently 25% of gross club income plus gst

The INCOME STRUCTURE FOR EnNZ 2008‐2009 which were voted in at the AGM.

 Taking into account the new FEI Rules for 2009, there is a need to clarify the classes of horses and riders and the events we will hold. This has ramifications back to our ride levies and our annual Discipline Start Fees. The classes of events we hold will equate to the class of horse grading and the class of rider grading. These will be as defined in the 2009 Rules;
Pre‐Novice ‐these events will include CTR horses and new horses that are undertaking the Novice system.

Novice Only after a horse completes the Novice system will it be classed as a Novice horse and is then eligible to attempt Star rated events.

Graded ‐ Events rated as 1* 2* 3* 4*
It is recommended that the load of income be spread across the 3 different revenue sources with an emphasis on keeping the Ride Levy structure simple and as low as possible.

Club Affiliation Fees $450 GST incl per annum. represents a small increase of $50 per club per year recommended.

Discipline Start Fees are paid via ESNZ using the annual registration form. The current system of one fee for all does not allow us to collect statistical information as to what our riders and horses actually do and will not function under the new FEI Rules. Having a breakdown of horse status that complies with FEI rules 2009 will be critical to our results system. There will be 2 classes of horse registration as follows:

Pre&Novice ‐ $30 GST incl per annum. includes all CTR horses and horses undertaking the Novice system, and includes horses that achieved Novice classification.

Graded ‐ $50 GST incl per annum. Horses that are competing in 1* 2* 3* and 4* events.
(This grading is printed on the registration sticker that each horse carries in its Vet book. A horse can only enter the level of event that is printed on the
sticker. Horses without a registration sticker must enter only Pre‐Novice events using a Day Membership Card. Two rides completed on the Day card
can be counted towards the horses distance upon registration.) (Eventing use the same classes and their registration fees are $20 and $80)

Ride Levies ‐ $10 GST incl per horse. ( all horses on grounds at an event. )

Endurance NZ is pleased to announce the official Team to compete in Malaysia at the World Endurance Championships 2008.

Jenny Champion: Freckles

Philip Graham: Wolfgang Amadeus

Andrea Smith: Sierra Nevada

A big congratulations Jenny, you and Freckles have had a terrific season and we are proud of you.

,

On Sunday WATRC held their AGM and a vote on staying affiliated or not was done.
The vote was for WATRC to no longer pay its affiliation to ENZ.

This now means that WATRC are no longer part of the National body or ESNZ.
However WATRC still intends to run CTR rides as we have in the past but these rides will now become club rides and no longer Points or KMS awards rides.

WATRC would still like to be neighbours so to speak with the Wairarapa club and would like to ask for a copy of your ride dates so WATRC can plan our rides around Wairarapa's dates without impeding Wairarapa rides.

WATRC would still welcome outside riders to our rides but there will be no point's or kms awarded.

Would you please relay this information to the members of the Wairarapa club on behalf of the committee of WATRC.

Regards Eunice Tyler
President WATRC

Kilometres for Catwalk

We’d never say no to heaps of glory, ribbons, trophies and fancy prize rugs - but wouldn’t it be great if your endurance kilometres helped support a really good cause as well?

The club is proposing that riders taking part in endurance and/or CTR rides in the 2008-09 season might wish to “contribute” their competition kilometres to a good cause.

It is proposed that riders who wish to take part would seek sponsorship (from family, friends, businesses and the community) for every kilometre completed in competition, with the proceeds to be donated at the end of the season to The Catwalk Trust, in support of spinal cord injury research.

For example if a sponsor agreed to sponsor one cent for every kilometre completed, and a rider completed a total of 500km over the season, that sponsor would pay them $5.  At the end of the season the club would present the total amount collected by all riders who participate to the trust.  We might even rustle up a prize for the rider who collects the most sponsorship!

Catwalk Trust is dedicated to raising funds to support research into spinal cord injuries. The trust was founded by leading Wairarapa equestrian Catriona Williams, who suffered a spinal cord injury in a riding accident in 2002, and this cause is one which has had a direct impact on many in the equestrian community.  For more information go to www.catwalk.org.nz.

If you would be interested in becoming a sponsored rider next season, please contact Helen Bain on h.bain@forestandbird.org.nz or 0274 185 026.

"AA Parade" winner of the 2008 Waho Trophy

5/05/2008 2:18:10 p.m.

AA Parade owned by Greg and Jaki Bickerton, has added yet another Trophy to his collection, being awarded the prestigous WAHO Trophy for 2008.

This is the ultimate award for an Arabian horse in NZ as it resembles a high standing in any given discipline.

Recipients of the WAHO Trophy should be Arabian horses that have, in some way, been an excellent ambassador for the breed, must be registered purebred, bred and domiciled in NZ and have performed in halter or any other discipline.

Parade has formed a major part in the Morocco Arabian stable over the past decade or more and has continued over the years to impress and give more in what ever he does.

Parade has a total of 6249 Endurance Km's under his belt and a long string of Endurance achievements to go with it.

Being awarded the WAHO Trophy is yet another addition to Parade's accomplishments and shows that this horse is an absolute giver and a true champion in his own right.

A CHAMPION WIN FOR JENNY Annie Studholme reports on the recent

National Endurance and CTR Champs were held at Kurow Racecourse over Easter weekend

North Islander Jenny Champion has made it two from two on South Island turf taking out

the coveted CEI*** 160km National Endurance Championship held at Kurow Racecourse,

in the upper reaches of the Waitaki Valley, from March 21-23.

A surprise winner of the event when it was last held in the South Island two years ago at

Hawarden, the Eketahuna-based rider took the honours with a gusty performance on

her talented little part-Arab mare Freckles ahead of some of the more favoured competitors.

After riding conservatively over the first three loops the duo started applying the pressure,

but still looked out of winning contention.

By the sixth and final lap Jenny had victory in her sights, starting just four minutes in arrears

of leader Linda Kenney on PL Mississippi. She set out at a blistering pace, galloping

down Kenney.

With Mark Tylee on Cyden Kay just a few minutes behind, Champion was under pressure

to keep the lead. She finished the last 11 km in a slick 26 minutes 23 seconds, finishing

with a total ride time of 10 hours 43 minutes and 13 seconds.

Tylee moved up on the final lap to take second 12 minutes later, with Kenney content

to finish third in just her first attempt at 160km on Mississippi PL. Champion was also

awarded the trophy for Best Conditioned horse.
